Teachers, families, nature lovers, scientists and those who work and play in the surrounding community are seeing positive changes in the landscape and the wildlife at Fernhill.

Students from elementary through college are visiting Fernhill to study and learn about water quality, native plants, wildlife and natural treatment systems.

Contact Seth Winkelhake, Education and Volunteer Specialist, at Clean Water Services if you'd like to bring students or community groups to Fernhill or explore the Visitor Station.

Fernhill visitors can engage in rotating stories posted along trails as a safe way for families to practice literacy skills while experiencing the outdoors together. Fernhill StoryWalks are seasonally thematic and presented in English and Spanish.

The StoryWalk® Project was created by Anne Ferguson of Montpelier, VT and developed in collaboration with the Kellogg-Hubbard Library. Learn more about Story Walks from the Boston Children's Museum.

HEALTH & NATURE WALKS

Clean Water Services, the Audubon Society of Portland and Bienestar Community Development Corporation are Tree for All partners with a history of working together to foster understanding of watershed health through the Bienestar Explorador Summer Camps Program. Over the last decade, the Summer Camps program has provided an opportunity for children and their families to build meaningful relationships with nature while learning about the workings of the natural environment.

Access to nature improves our bodies and minds. Watershed health walks promote community health and foster stewardship of the Tualatin River.
